Whitewater High School Wind Ensemble Performs at The Rialto Center
The Whitewater High School Wind Ensemble will presents their
2011-12 Fall Concert with a debut performance at the Rialto Center for the Arts
on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 7:30pm.
Each year the Georgia State University Band Department, under the
direction of Dr. Robert J. Ambrose, invites one outstanding ensemble from the
state to share a concert with the Georgia State University Wind Ensemble on the
GSU campus.
Joining the WHS Wind Ensemble will be Dr. Cory Mixdorf, GSU
Professor of Trombone, performing the Finale from “Concerto for Trombone and
Military Band” by Nikolao Rimsky-Korsakov.
Works by composers Paul Dukas, Vincent Perschetti and Malcolm Arnold
will also be on the program. The concert
is free and open to the public. The Whitewater High School Wind Ensemble is lead by
Directors Jack Jean and Robert Truan.
Jay Newsome II Wins Georgia State Talent Hunt
Jay Newsome II, a senior Saxophone player, placed 1st in the OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, INC. - GEORGIA STATE TALENT HUNT, wining trophy and a $500 check. He will now compete at the District level Contest in Jackson, MS. Congratulations!!
Amy Melton named to the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra
Congratulations to Junior Amy Melton for being selected to the French Horn Section of the ASYO. Students are selected by audition from the entire State of Georgia for this outstanding youth orchestra.
