PURPOSE: This supplement is a profile of Whitewater High School and will assist in evaluating transcripts by providing information that is not otherwise available.
SCHOOL: Whitewater High School is one of seven high schools in the Fayette County Public School System:

Whitewater High School opened its doors in August of 2003. The enrollment for grades 9-12 for 2011-12 is approximately 1516. The Class of 2011 consists of 362 students.
ACCREDITATION: Whitewater High School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
SCHOOL YEAR: The school year is divided into two semesters and each semester into two nine-week grading periods. Whitewater High School is in session for 180 instructional grading days.
GRADING SCALE:
A = 90 – 100
B = 80 – 89
C = 71 – 79
D = 70
F = 69 – below
CLASS RANK: Class rank is determined by the cumulative grade point average at the end of each semester. Grades are not weighted for class rank.
AP WEIGHTED GPA: Transcripts provide two grade point averages—one weighted and one
unweighted. The weighted GPA gives Advanced Placement courses 1 quality point. The unweighted GPA is used for ranking students.
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION
Students must pass all sections of the Georgia High School Graduation Test. The sections are Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Writing.
Graduating classes of 2012 and beyond.
One common set of requirements for all students. Twenty-three units required for all students.
4 units – English
4 units – Science
4 units – Mathematics
3 units – Social Studies
3 units – Foreign Language* and/or CTAE and/or Fine Arts
1 unit – Health & Physical Education (3 units of JROTC may be used to meet this requirement)
4 units – Elective Studies
*Students planning to enter or transfer into a University System of Georgia institution must take two units of the same foreign language.
